If you keep a quality control before the production, this would help you identify the faulty areas if any so that before the raw material goes in the production mode, it is not wasted or put to any risk and nothing weird takes place before production. Quality managers check through the production phase and monitor how it is carried out, whether the individual is filling in the right quantity of any ingredient, whether the over plant or machines are working good and not just fine before the raw material is entered in the manufacturing phase. For after production, you check whether the product that is being manufactured, is it made the way it was supposed to be? Check if the quantity of material used is correct i.e. not more or less from the pre-decided quantity. All these measures can be taken in to account before and after the production.
